10.09.2024

The classroom was officially opened at the Philological High School in Belgrade, the equipping and adaptation of which was supported by the NIS company within the “Energy of Knowledge” programme.

The Russian language classroom at the Philological High School was completely adapted and renovated, equipped with the new furniture and teaching aids that will contribute to a more modern teaching approach. One part of the classroom is equipped as an informal corner, which will be used for tea gatherings, reading clubs, as well as for the celebration of the Russian holiday Maslenitsa, traditionally organized at this school. All the students and teachers of this school will be allowed to use this classroom for their educational purposes.

The Deputy CEO of NIS, Vadim Smirnov, wished the students great success in their further learning of the Russian language:

“The opening of new classrooms has become a routine for NIS, but the joy I feel now is anything but routine. Now students have better conditions to learn the Russian language and it will certainly be useful to them. I wish them great success in their further education. NIS will continue to support schools to the benefit of children, young people and their teachers”, Smirnov pointed out.

Students of the Philological High School regularly participate in the NIS Olympiad in the Russian language, where they achieve significant results, as well as in other competitions in the country and abroad. Thanks to the achievements and reputation of this High School, NIS supported the equipping of the Russian language classroom at this educational institution through the “Energy of Knowledge” programme.

The Philological High School is a unique specialized school for gifted students and its main task is to provide philological education to young people. Nearly 700 students attend the Philological High School, where nine living languages and two classical languages are studied. In the philological departments, for the first foreign language there are even five classes a week, and students who study the Russian language as their first language also study the Russian literature and culture. Nearly 100 students learn the Russian language at the Philological High School as the first foreign language, the second foreign language and the elective language.

The NIS company launched the “Energy of Knowledge” programme in 2012. So far, through this programme NIS has equipped more than 60 classrooms and laboratories at schools and universities across Serbia, out of which 23 classrooms are intended for the Russian language classes. NIS also supports the organization of bilingual, Serbian-Russian teaching in three schools in Serbia, as well as the participation at the NIS Olympiad in the Russian language, which was included in the official competitions calendar of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia in 2014. For its contribution to the development of education in Serbia, NIS is the first company to which the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia awarded the “St. Sava Award”.
