Joint efforts for cleaner and more beautiful Fruška Gora

11.04.2025.

Hardworking volunteers, nature lovers, made a new contribution to the more beautiful appearance of the Fruška Gora Mountain today – on the occasion of Nature Conservation Day, a campaign was held to clean up non-biodegradable waste at three locations in this national park. Organized by the Public Enterprise “Fruška Gora National Park”, the excursion sites “Zmajevac” and “Brankovac” were cleaned, as well as three circular paths at the Iriški venac area. Numerous volunteers and nature lovers from several companies and organizations joined this action, including the members of the NIS Volunteer Club, traditionally participating in initiatives aimed at protecting nature and emphasizing the importance of preserving a healthy environment. In addition to cleaning and improving the landscapes of the Fruška Gora Mountain, the organizers wanted to draw attention to the importance of involving wider community in environmental actions. About 200 volunteers participated in the action, who, divided into several teams, worked diligently for several hours to clean up one of the most beautiful national parks in Serbia. Additionally, the organizers introduced them to the rich history and importance of the Fruška Gora National Park.

NIS provided Jazak water from the Fruška Gora Mountain for all the participants in the campaign, while the members of the Company’s Volunteer Club, one of the largest corporate volunteer clubs in our country, were pleased to respond to the call to help protect nature. Numerous NIS volunteers participated in the previous years in the landscaping of the Fruška Gora Mountain, as well as various green areas and excursion sites, the Tamiš coast in Pančevo and the Sava River on Ada Lake, the Botanical Garden in Belgrade, as well as in numerous other environmental and educational actions. Only during 2024, NIS volunteers dedicated more than 600 volunteer hours to the community and, among other things, participated in various environmental initiatives such as the arrangement and cleaning of the Oficirska Beach in Novi Sad, as well as the planting of 100 seedlings of ornamental trees in Kikinda. The traditional internal volunteer competition took place, also focusing on environmental protection. Under the slogan “Promeni, pozeleni, budi (n)eko” (Change it, make it green and eco-friendly), the company’s volunteers greened and equipped selected schools in the towns of Bašaid and Sečanj and preschool institutions in Gajdobra and Nova Varoš with solar benches and chargers, composters, recycling presses and other environmentally-friendly solutions.
