NIS has announced the start of funds allocation through the system of public competitions in 2014 by entering into agreements with ten municipalities and cities in Serbia. On that occasion, today Mr. Kirill Kravchenko, NIS CEO signed cooperation agreements with the representatives of ten municipalities and cities in Serbia: Novi Sad, Pančevo, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Novi Sad, Žitište, Subotica, Srbobran, Niš and Čačak. Non-profit institutions may take part in public competitions with projects in the field of sports, culture, science, environmental protection and social support to vulnerable groups. The Committee consisting of the representatives of regional authorities, NIS and local dignitaries will select the best project. In 2009 NIS initiated the project of support to local communities which has been improved over years. As of last year, 100% or funds is allocated under public competitions for projects which non-profit organizations present as priority ones for social-economic development of a local community. To date, more than 450 projects have been implemented aimed at supporting the development of local communities, facilitating the operation of numerous institutions and improving the work of cultural, educational and sport institutions. Furthermore, NIS pays a great attention and invests considerable funds in the promotion of right values and environment in which it conducts its business operations. The support to education is provided through the program "Energy of Knowledge" for which around 50 million RSD was allocated during the last year. More than 670 young people were employed through the program "NIS Chance". To date NIS has invested almost 400 million RSD in these two programs. "Success makes sense only if you share it with others and invest in the promotion and development of good ideas. This year we have allocated more than $ 110 million for projects that have the power to improve your municipalities. In the last three years, through the system of public tenders we have supported around 250 projects, and the Company has invested 680 million RSD in the social responsibility program "Cooperation for Development" since 2009", said NIS CEO, Mr. Kirill Kravchenko.
