This particular festival seeks to promote and safeguard the natural heritage, world patrimony and cultural tradition by entertaining and educating the youngest. Mammoth Fest features entertaining events intended to children and youth in celebration of the anniversary of the excavation of the remnants of one of the most significant mammoths in the world, which got a moniker Kika. “Birthday Greetings” workshop kick-started the manifestation, with three hundred Kikinda school children descended on the main city square to make greetings for the Kika mammoth. This year event was graced by visitors from Slovenia and Croatia, specifically Zagreb Museum for Visually Impaired bringing its “Guess what” workshop. Belgrade Natural History Museum staged its “Dusk to Dawn” exhibit. Other than that, there was a “Jurassic Quiz” for pupils, who wanted to show that they know the saga of Kikinda mammoth excavation. Other interesting activities were also on offer. NIS lends support to this manifestation as part of its corporate programme to facilitate local community development.
The Mammoth Fest project was picked in the “Common Cause – Community” open competition and is dedicated to projects in sports, culture, environment, science and humanities in the cities and municipalities, where NIS operates. The Mammoth Fest project was picked in the “Common Cause – Community” open competition and is dedicated to projects in sports, culture, environment, science and humanities in the cities and municipalities, where NIS operates.
