NIS SUPPORTS STANISLAV SHEKSHNIA’S LECTURE AT THE FACULTY OF ORGANISATIONAL SCIENCES

April 16, 2013

Stanislav Shekshnia, Professor of Entrepreneurial Leadership at the international business school INSEAD and an independent member of the NIS j.s.c. Boards of Directors, has delivered a lecture today to the students of the Faculty of Organisational Sciences. Mr. Shekshnia, who has more than ten years of managerial experience, has addressed the issue of what qualities a leader needs to possess to successfully run a company in the 21st century. "One of the main challenges the modern managers face is how to achieve a stable and profitable growth of the company, taking care of the staff at the same time. Something like that was inconceivable in the past century, people were treated as any other resource and a manager's success was measured solely according to whether the revenues, sales and profit were growing from quarter to quarter. This is no longer the case because, if managers fail to take care of the staff and ecology, along with the profit, investors will turn their back on them," said Shekshnia who had held various managerial positions, such as Director of Human Resources, Central and Eastern Europe for Otis Elevator, then a position in VimpelCom, and later went to become the CEO of Alfa-Telecom and President of Millicom International Cellular for Russia and the CIS. NIS j.s.c. has supported Professor Shekshnya's lecture as a part of its social responsibility programme, "Energy of Knowledge" under which, among other things, the Company brings renowned experts from various fields of academia and applied sciences in order to keep the local experts on track with the latest trends. Another goal of hosting visiting lecturers is to support the country's educational curricula as well as to acquaint students with the global trends in various fields they study at the faculty.
