NIS continues major investments in the oil and gas exploration and production segment. In the first quarter of 2026, the company allocated 4.9 billion dinars to area of business, which accounts for 78% of total investments in this period. Key investments were directed towards production drilling, well interventions, infrastructure modernization, procurement of equipment and investment maintenance.
In this way, NIS has continued its active operations in oil and gas exploration and production, with the aim of maintaining current production levels at its mature fields. New oil wells drilled in the first three months of the year alongside with all well interventions secured an additional oil output of 13.5 thousand tons. The increase in production is largely due to the new horizontal wells drilled at the Velebit field, so the company plans to expand this type of drilling to other fields as well. In the first quarter of 2026, total oil and gas production across all NIS assets amounted to 280 thousand conditional tons.
“In the challenging circumstances we have achieved results that are significant not only on the domestic, but on a regional level. Thanks to the substantial investments in the first quarter, we made an important step to strengthen production. We will keep our focus on efficient resource management, geological exploration projects, and the implementation of new technological solutions to ensure long‑term business sustainability. We will continue investing in projects that enhance efficiency,” said Predrag Radanović, Director of the Production Directorate of the Exploration and Production Block.
NIS is the only company in Serbia engaged in oil and gas exploration and production, with environmental protection as its key priority. Most of the company’s oil and gas fields are located in Serbia, while NIS also operates in Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company’s oldest foreign concession is in Angola, where production has been ongoing since 1985.
