With a donation to the value of 12.5 million RSD, the Health Centre was able to purchase medical equipment, as well as two vehicles for the transportation of patients. A fully equipped modern dental examination chair and a laboratory refrigerator for the storage of vaccines were also purchased.
The handing-over ceremony, which was organized on this occasion at the Zrenjanin Health Centre, was attended by representatives of the local government and NIS, as well as members of staff of this healthcare institution.
Biljan Elezović, Director of the Central Banat Plant, emphasized that social responsibility is one of the priorities of NIS’ operations. “The City of Zrenjanin is one of our most important partners. Not only in terms of business, but also in the implementation of projects that we realize for the benefit of our fellow citizens. This year, we have allocated funds totalling RSD 12.5 million to the Health Centre in Zrenjanin for the procurement of much-needed medical equipment and vehicles for the transportation of patients. In this way, NIS hopes to contribute to children – as the future of our country – having the highest quality conditions for treatment.” Elezović said.
Čedomir Janjić, Mayor of Zrenjanin, emphasized the importance of cooperation with NIS and of investing in the community. “I would like to thank NIS for its conscientiousness in terms of social responsibility. The City of Zrenjanin is one of 13 cities that has established such a cooperation with NIS. Once again this year, we are cooperating through the Community Together programme, within which we have already implemented numerous projects, primarily in the fields of sports, recreation and education, and now we are broadening the scope to also include health” said Janjić.
Gordana Đurić, Director of the “Dr. Boško Vrebalov” Health Centre emphasized the importance of this donation to the healthcare institution.
“I would like to thank NIS for recognizing the need for improvement of primary care. Modernization of equipment and the vehicle fleet will improve the capacities of the parts of the Centre that work intensively with children, improve the primary healthcare of our users, and greatly improve the satisfaction of our patients and staff alike,” said the director of the Zrenjanin Health Centre.
The donation to the “Dr. Boško Vrebalov” Health Centre is part of NIS’ support to 20 healthcare institutions across Serbia through the Community Together programme for this year. As part of this year’s CSR cycle, the company has allocated RSD 116.5 million to healthcare facilities where children and youth are treated in 13 cities and municipalities – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Čačak, Pančevo, Požarevac, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Novi Bečej, Srbobran, Žitište, Kanjiža and Plandište – for the procurement of modern medical equipment. Through these investments, NIS will contribute to the reconstruction and adaptation of children’s dispensaries, the procurement of modern medical equipment and appliances, and the purchase of vehicles for a number of healthcare facilities.
NIS’ ‘Community Together’ social responsibility programme has been running for 11 years, and is implemented in cooperation with local communities throughout Serbia. To date, more than 950 projects have been supported in various fields with the aim of improving the living conditions of citizens, with a total value of over one billion dinars. The City of Zrenjanin has been a partner in the programme since the very beginning of its implementation, and 146 projects worth over 134 million dinars have thus far been implemented upon its territory.
