“Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Grammar School in Novi Sad hosted the finals of the 10th jubilee NIS Russian Language Olympics, organized with the support of NIS, under the “Energy of Knowledge” programme.
The competition is intended for pupils of the 7th and 8th grades of primary schools, students of all grades of secondary schools and grammar schools, as well as university students from Serbia, Republika Srpska, and Montenegro. This year’s jubilee NIS Russian Language Olympics attracted more than 1300 competitors who participated in the qualification, and in the final, it brought together almost 140 students who competed in four categories. The winners by categories are: Category I: first place – Jakov Ljubičić from Novi Sad, second place – Lazar Lopušina from Bijelo Polje, third place – David Ladičorbić from Novi Sad. Category II: first place – Angelina Marijan from Ruma, second place – Uglješa Mihajlović from Belgrade, third place – Jovan Bugarin from Bijelo Polje. Category III: first place – Angela Grubački from Zrenjanin, second place – Andrea Dragićević from Loznica, third place – Nataša Stanković from Vrnjačka Banja. The winners of Category IV, as well as the absolute winners of the Olympics, the students who won the most points and took the first three places in the overall standings are: first place – Mikhail Razuev from Belgrade, second place – Olga Čupurdija from Belgrade, third place – Margarita Alisa Popkova from Belgrade.
NIS has been organizing the NIS Russian Language Olympics since 2013 through the “Energy of Knowledge” programme, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Russian Centre of the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Grammar School in Novi Sad, and the Serbian Association for Slavic Studies. In 2014, the Olympics were included in the official calendar of competitions of the Ministry of Education, with the exception of 2020, when it was not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through the “Energy of Knowledge” programme, NIS also supported the implementation of bilingual classes at the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Grammar School in Novi Sad, as well as at the “Jovan Popović” Elementary School in Novi Sad and the Aleksinac Grammar School. So far, the company has also equipped 17 Russian language classrooms in schools whose students achieved remarkable results at the Russian Language Olympics. NIS is the first company to receive the prestigious “St. Sava Award” for its contribution to the development of education, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
