– So far, NIS has put into operation 60 photovoltaic power plants at petrol stations.
-The solar power plants were also put into operation at the “Jazak” Drinking Water Production Unit, the Pančevo Oil Refinery and the office building at Arse Teodorovića Street in Novi Sad.
-The aggregate production of electricity from all photovoltaic power plants of the company in operation was 2.2 GWh in 2024.
By the end of 2025, the total capacity of all NIS solar power plants is planned to be 11 MWp, with an annual production of about 13.6 GWh. The annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions is planned to be about 15,000 tons.
So far, NIS has built and put into operation 60 photovoltaic power plants at petrol stations, and the project is also being implemented at other facilities of the company. The photovoltaic solar power plant was also put into operation at the “Jazak” Drinking Water Production Unit with a total capacity of 620 kWp, which has the combined position of photovoltaic panels partly on the roof and partly on the ground. Roof photovoltaic power plants were also built at the Petroleum Products Warehouse Novi Sad with a capacity of 585 kWp, at the NIS office building at Arse Teodorovića Street in Novi Sad with a capacity of 100 kWp, as well as on the roofs of five facilities at the Pančevo Oil Refinery with a capacity of 610 kWp. The aggregate production of electricity from all photovoltaic power plants put into operation, with a total capacity of 3.2 MWp, was 2.2 GWh in 2024.
This year, it is planned to put into operation another 18 solar power plants at petrol stations, as well as the largest solar power plant built so far within the company – the solar photovoltaic power plant at the Petroleum Products Warehouse in Novi Sad with a photovoltaic field installed on the ground, with a capacity of 6,817 kWp.
By the end of 2025, the total planned capacity of all NIS solar power plants in operation will be 11.3 MWp, with an annual production of about 13.6 GWh. As regards illustration, the electricity that will be produced annually by about 18 thousand installed photovoltaic panels of NIS can cover the annual electricity needs of about 3,200 average households in Serbia. The annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in that case is planned to be about 15,000 tons. The total planned investments of the company in the implementation of all implemented projects in this area of business by the end of 2025 will be about EUR 7 million.
In the upcoming period, NIS will continue to implement the program of the construction of solar power plants at the company’s facilities, which began in 2022 with the construction of the first photovoltaic power plants at eight petrol stations.
“Guided by the principles of sustainable development and the fulfillment of its green agenda, NIS continues to build photovoltaic power plants at its facilities. In this way we bring positive financial effects, while by the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions we contribute to the fight against global warming. Our goal is that the company should produce a significant part of electricity for its own needs from renewable energy sources, and offer part of the produced energy on the market”, said Aleksandr Kozhevnikov, Head of Energy Project and Energy Efficiency Department at NIS.
