A major construction stage ends in CCPP Pančevo

December 12, 2019

The ceremony was addressed by Zoran Predic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Kirill Tyurdenev, the CEO of NIS, Denis Fyodorov, CEO of Gazprom Energoholding and Sha Junfeng, Deputy President of Shangai Electric Group, the Chinese company that is the contractor for the facility. The CCPP Pančevo is the first gas-steam power plant in Serbia, intended for the combined production of electricity and heat based on natural gas, one of the most environmentally friendly fuels. The generated heat and electricity will be used for the needs of the Pančevo Oil Refinery, while the excess electricity will be sold in Serbia. The total installed power of the CCPP Pančevo is about 200 MW. The main equipment of the CCPP Pančevo power plant includes: two gas turbines with generators, two boilers-utilizers and one steam turbine with generator. Delivery of the main equipment started in the summer of this year. Gas turbines with generators arrived first on the site. This equipment was manufactured at the Ansaldo Energia plants and transported by sea from the Italian port of Genoa to the Romanian port of Constanta on the Black Sea, and then by the Danube to the port of Pančevo. The installation of gas turbines and generators onto the foundations was completed in early August. In September, boilers-utilizers, manufactured in the production facilities of the Shanghai Electric Group, arrived at the site, and in December, a steam turbine and a turbine generator were brought by sea from Shanghai via the port of Constanta. Construction of the power plant began on March 7, 2019, and the commissioning of the CCPP Pančevo is planned for 2020.
