The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Kirill Kravchenko, NIS j.s.c. Chief Executive Officer, and Vigor Majić, Director of the “Petnica” Research Station. In line with its strategic commitment to invest in support of science and in the development of talented young individuals, NIS will support the operation of the “Petnica” Research Station with six million dinars in 2016. This cooperation includes guest lectures of NIS employees at seminars organized in the Research Station, and Petnica will host, among other things, preparations of Serbian Olympic teams for international competitions in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Signing of the agreement with the “Petnica” Research Station is just one of various projects that the company NIS carries out in order to support scientific and educational projects in Serbia. It is part of our social responsibility and it is certain that we shall continue to invest in Petnica in the future, despite the crisis in the oil industry. It is our great pleasure to have good cooperate with Petnica and I hope that this is just the beginning", said Kravchenko. Vigor Majić, Director of the “Petnica” Research Station, thanked NIS for the support that began in 2009, when the organization was in a serious crisis. „That moment, when Petnica was recognized as something worth, something that might help that a new Pupin, a new Tesla does not lose his/her motivation for further education and training, was very important for us. This gesture means a lot to us, both materially and morally, in order to be able to plan for the long term and to give maximum effort to achieve the best possible results”, said Majić. So far, 84 million dinars have been provided for the work of the Research Station, and in 2015 only, thanks to the support of NIS, 154 programs were completed, with 1.550 participants, assistants and lecturers. By providing support for the work of Petnica, the company NIS continues to invest in scientific and educational projects and in the promotion of science during the crisis in the oil sector as well, cooperating with partners who see promotion of scientific awareness and civic engagement among young people as one of their main priorities. The “Petnica” Research Station is an independent organization, founded in 1982, engaged in the development of scientific culture, scientific literacy, education and youth culture, as well as in training of teachers in new techniques, methods and contents.
