NIS and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Development signed Memorandum on Cooperation

As part of celebrating the annual results of the „Power of Knowledge“ corporate socially responsible business, NIS signed the Memorandum on Cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Development on Wednesday, 18 November. The Memorandum was signed by the Education Minister Tomislav Jovanović and the deputy of the general director of NIS and the director of Function for organisational issues Dmitry Fomenko. This document stipulates the cooperation between the company and the ministry in the vein of education and science within the „Power of Knowledge“programme. “The Company has recognised the importance of supporting the young in terms of education and science, which is delivered within the „Power of Knowledge“programme“, stressed Dmitry Fomenko, the deputy of the general director of NIS. “NIS shows that it should be invested in the best, because this conveys a special power to the knowledge. We need investments also into research and development involving the best and the most gifted young people”, Tomislav Jovanović, the Education Minister pointed out. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Chancellor of the University of Belgrade, Professor Vladimir Bumbaširević, Ph.D, the Chancellor of the University of Novi Sad, Professor Miroslav Vesković, Ph.D, university departments deans and faculty, other partners, as well as holders of scholarships granted by NIS as part of its „Power of Knowledge“programme The Chancellor of the University of Belgrade, Vladimir Bumbaširević, pointed out that over the course of these four years NIS has been developing a strategic partnership with this educational institution, which was crowned this year with the „Power of Knowledge“programme. Mr Bumbaširević called these efforts a proof that socially responsible business really exists, as NIS demonstrated in deed not in name. The Chancellor of the University of Novi Sad, Miroslav Vesković, opined that universities ought to promote partnership between science and a modern company as NIS, not only within the country, but in Europe as well. Snežana Lakićević, NIS representative in charge of cooperation with universities, has made public the outcome of the „Power of Knowledge“programme, as well as the plans for 2014, nothing that signing the Memorandum with the Education Ministry heralds quite ambitious plans for the coming year.
