The mini basket tournament – “Weekend of the Champions” – organized by NIS and supported by Serbian Basketball Federation for the second consecutive year, was held within the NIS’s project called “We are All one Team”, mission of which is to promote the spirit of sports and healthy way of life among the youngsters. The campaign facilitated the youngest generation to get-together with their role models from local teams, and thus this event was enhanced with the appearance of basketball players from Partizan club’s junior team, Dusan Tanaskovic, Luka Tarlac and Lav Cvetkovic, who trained with our youngest athletes, socialized with them and taught them the “little secrets of big masters”. After the training of youngsters with Partizan's juniors, Mr. Ognjen Cvjeticanin, a member of the City Council for Sport and Youth addressed the participants and ceremonially marked the beginning of a new match by throwing the ball in the center of the basketball court. “I am very pleased that today in Novi Sad we have this event that promotes sport and healthy living among the youngest. Children are supposed to grow up through play in the open field, on playgrounds and sport courts, and the City is active in creating conditions for that kind of activities, but also in supporting projects that are contributing to this goal. On this occasion, I want to extend my gratitude to socially responsible company – NIS, which has organized this event and which has supported athletes, as well as projects that are promoting quality of life in local communities across Serbia", Ognjen Cvjeticanin was quoted as saying. Chairman of the Association “Mini Basket Serbia”, Mr. Rade Georgievski emphasized that NIS Company, in cooperation with Serbian Basketball Federation has supported organization of mini basket tournaments across the country for nine consecutive years. He explained that programs, balls and the height of baskets used in the tournament have been adjusted to children’s age and announced that mini basket tournament - “Weekend of the Champions” would be organized this year under slogan “We are All one Team” on 1 June in Belgrade and on 8 June in Niš. In addition to mini-basket court, the youngest players tested their abilities on a court with telescope basket and artificial grass. At the end of the tournament, all the participants were presented medals, and thus showed that all of them were winners, and that this project has a clear aim: not to create competition, but rather togetherness and tolerance among children In cooperation with Serbian Basketball Federation, NIS has supported organization of the project: Mini Basket Serbia and organization of mini basket tournaments across our country, for nine consecutive years. The project's goal is to elicit and induce the spirit of sport and healthy way of life in children, while competition results are of secondary importance. NIS has been a years-long partner of both Serbian Basketball Federation and “Partizan NIS” basketball club.
