NIS and the Tennis Federation of Serbia have launched the “Sports Against Violence“ initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development. The initiative aims to popularize tennis through the World Tennis Federation’s mini-tennis programme, as well as to promote sports values, the culture of nonviolence, and fair play in sports. It will include children from more than 300 elementary schools in Serbia in the course of the next academic year. Students of 14 Belgrade elementary schools had the opportunity to get an introduction to mini-court tennis skills and to spend time with the best Serbian female tennis player Jelena Janković. The President of the Executive Board of the Tennis Federation of Serbia, Toplica Spasojević, and the coordinator of the Violence Prevention Unit in the Ministry of Education and Science, Biljana Lajović, attended the presentation of the initiative and the first training. NIS has been the general sponsor of TFS for many years, and has supported it as part of the “Energy of Sport“ programme and the strategy of socially responsible business activities. In this way NIS has partnered with the Tennis Federation in promoting a healthy lifestyle and nurturing young talents.
