NIS and the Faculty of Economics in Subotica sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

December 6, 2018

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Vadim Smirnov, Deputy General Manager and Head of Function for External, State Bodies and Public Relations of NIS, and Aleksandar Grubor, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Subotica. The Memorandum of Cooperation foresees the implementation of joint scientific and research projects, the realization of training courses, provision of professional counselling and consultations, and the exchange of knowledge and experience. Also envisaged through the cooperation is the organization of joint guest lectures of NIS experts and faculty professors, the assisting of students in carrying out research and graduate theses, professional practice experience within our company, and also the involvement of students in the company’s young professional programs. While on the one hand, the ongoing cooperation between NIS and the Faculty of Economics in Subotica points to the fact that the company appreciates the high level of expertise and knowledge provided by the Faculty of Economics to its students, on the other it equally shows that young people see NIS as an attractive employer. The fact that almost 270 graduates of the Faculty of Economics in Subotica are already in employment at NIS supports this cooperation, with many having worked for NIS for more than 10 years, with a large number occupying senior or managerial positions. “Naftna Industrija Srbije is a jewel in our network of business partners in Serbia. What we have agreed to is that the faculty will participate in advancing the intellectual capital of the company; it will participate in economic research for its needs, and provide professional assistance, seminars, education and courses for employees. From the other side, NIS experts will hold lectures at the faculty, the company will enable our students to realize practical work, and will provide us with support in knowledge transfer. We are currently in the process of accreditation of new study programs, and it is certain that these programs should be aligned with the needs of the labour market. Since, through this cooperation, the university will become an active participant upon the labour market, the suggestions and expectations of NIS will greatly ease the work relating to programs’ accreditation.” said Aleksandar Grubor, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Subotica. “The Faculty of Economics in Subotica is known throughout the country for the quality of its personnel, and NIS recognizes this. We pay full attention to the development of young talent and students in Serbia, in a multifaceted approach. On the one hand, young people can achieve their plans for further development, and, on the other, we hope to retain them within the country. We provide the best students with the opportunity to gain work experience in NIS; this is not only our duty as a socially responsible company, but also gives us a great deal of satisfaction. NIS realized the importance of quality staff preparation for our industry, and our project ‘Energy of Knowledge’ has become a well-known brand in Serbia, enabling a large number of people to realize their plans for education not only in Serbia, but also overseas. The focus of NIS is students, science and youth development, and in that we see the future of our company”, said Vadim Smirnov, Deputy General Manager and Head of the Function for External, State Bodies and Public Relations of NIS. NIS has been developing partnerships with educational and scientific institutions for six years through its ‘Energy of Knowledge’ corporate program, which aims to contribute to the development of science and education, and the affirmation and improvement of the conditions for education and training of young and talented pupils, students and scientists all over the country, as well as adapting study programs to market needs. NIS has signed more than 45 agreements with domestic and international scientific and educational institutions across the country and abroad as part of its corporate ‘Energy of Knowledge’ program. NIS is the first company to receive the prestigious ‘Svetosavska nagrada’ prize, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, for its contribution to the development of education in the country.
