For the eleventh consecutive year the Research Center Petnica has organized an annual conference named "A Step into the Science." The ceremonial opening of the event, which was held today in Petnica near Valjevo, was attended by representatives of the Government, relevant ministries, the diplomatic corps and NIS, as the biggest sponsor. At this year's event, which runs until 9 December, 80 young participants of Petnica research center seminars and summer camps will present the results of their projects and research activities in 15 scientific fields This year's conference is held in the year of Petnica 30th anniversery Jubilee. NIS, together with the UN international cultural institution of UNESCO - which is also the patron of the Jubilee, participates in this important event. For four consequtive years NIS has been financially sponsoring the program activities of Petnica Research Centre, given its importance for the development of the culture of scientific literacy, of education in Serbia, as well as of the promotion of science among young people. Every year, the company, through a corporate responsibility program entitled "Development of science and young talent" donates 12 million dinars for the operation of the center, organization of various courses, summer schools, camps and seminars. Owing to the support of NIS, in the past several years, over 100 programs with more than 2000 students: seminars, camps, summer schools, conferences and research papers "Step into a science.
