December 22, 2014

The bitumen produced in the Pančevo Refinery has been sold in several countries of the EU and the region, including Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Moldavia, Slovenia and Austria. The high quality of bitumen produced in the Company's refinery in Pančevo was verified by the internationally recognized C-grade for quality, which enables smooth export of all bitumen types primarily to the European Union. As regards the Serbian market, NIS has a leading position by its sales volume, and the continuity of production year-round guarantees the stability of bitumen quality and delivery for road infrastructure companies in the country. The bitumen produced in Pančevo has been used for the construction and repair of strategic road sections in Serbia, including the Corridor 10 and 11, Nikola Tesla Airport runways and the Zemun–Borča bridge. For the construction of the Zemun–Borča bridge alone, the Company has supplied 2,000 tonnes of bitumen for road construction and more than 1,700 tonnes of top-quality polymer-modified bitumen. In addition to developing the production and sales capacities, NIS has improved its operations and logistics as well. The Company follows simplified customs procedures (local clearance), which is a new concept that enables uninterrupted process of customs clearance for bitumen in road and railroad transport 24 hours a day, all seven days of the week. NIS also provides bitumen transportation services in the country and the region, both by private tank trucks and in partnership with local carriers. "This will be a record year in this segment of NIS' production and sales. By optimising its refinery production portfolio and by improving logistics processes, the Company strives to enhance its efficiency and boost competitiveness in the country and the region," said Filip Djurović, Director of the Bitumen Sales Sector of NIS' Sales and Distribution.
