NIS CEO and President of Serbia Meet in Belgrade

September 4, 2013

The Chief Executive Officer of NIS, Kirill Kravchenkо, talked earlier today with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić. Kirill Kravchenko and Tomislav Nikolić discussed the plans for the expansion of NIS in the region, as well as the future projects of NIS. Among these, of great importance are the projects of the construction of a 700 MW thermal power station, the development of the coal seam in Kovin (in collaboration with the Chinese partners), and the project of exploitation of oil shales in Aleksinac. The significance of NIS for Serbia figured highly in the meeting, in light of the fact that in the first 7 months of 2013 alone the company paid taxes in the amount of 64.1 billion RSD – a 40-percent increase as compared to the same period last year - contributing thus to the budget of the Republic of Serbia. The President of the Republic pointed out that Serbia is becoming a fertile ground for foreign investments, necessary for revitalizing Serbian economy, and presented to NIS CEO the concrete measures that Serbian authorities will take in order to improve the investment climate in Serbia.
