NIS CEO at opening ceremony of Serbia’s national stand at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum The stand was opened by Serbia’s caretaker Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, who pointed out that Serbia deems it a great honour to be invited for participation at this event. Dačić has also given credit to Serbia’s Development Agency and Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce for organising the country’s presentation. Kirill Tyurdenev, NIS CEO, has pointed out in his address to those in attendance that this Forum in St. Petersburg is the best possible occasion to reiterate the importance of economic cooperation between Russia and Serbia, power generation being its pivotal realm. „NIS is most probably the best example of this cooperation: Gazprom Neft and Serbia’s Government are the majority stake-holders in the Company to the mutual benefit. Gazprom Neft is Serbia’s reliable partner in developing oil and gas sector and power generation at large. Serbia has granted Gazprom Neft a pivotal point in the region’s business. The best evidence of this success is NIS pooled efforts with Serbia’s Government yielding major and power generation projects. Other than that, the company is a major employer ranking in top positions in terms of investment and export “, Tyurdenev said. Serbia’s Development Agency executive director Tamara Jurenić stressed that Serbia is one of the most plausible destinations of the South East Europe. Testimony to this is the fact that in 2016, Serbia’s Development Agency delivered 22 investment contracts, which, in the coming period will yield almost 236 million euros in the investments and create more than 16.000 jobs. Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce Chairman Marko Čadež has pointed out that this Forum taking place in Russia is of a huge importance for Serbia, as it is attended by business  people from all over the world, which is a great opportunity for striking business deals and setting up and expanding cooperation in business and economic ties at large. Serbia is a partner country of this year's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Dušan Bajatović, CEO of Srbijagas, was among the speakers at the ceremonial opening, which was among others attended also by Serbia’s economy minister Goran Kneževič and the minister of agriculture and environment protection Branislav Nedimović. The St. Petersburg Economic Forum was opened today and will last through to the 3rd June. The Forum partner countries this year are Serbia and India. The event is attended by numerous political figures and economic leaders from all over the world.
