NIS Donated Baby Ultrasound Machine to Sopot Health Centre

October 29, 2019

During a donation ceremony, NIS provided the institution with a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for infant hip screening, worth more than RSD 3 million. NIS’ support for the supply of this valuable equipment is part of the “Together for the Community” social responsibility programme, and the machine is intended for screening of babies and pregnant women for early detection of severe anomalies in children. With a view to easing the treatment of the youngest patients, the company decorated the interior with posters of children’s heroes and the walls in the waiting rooms in this healthcare institution, whose scope covers the territory with the population of around 21,000. The donation ceremony was attended by Zoran Radojičić, Mayor of Belgrade, Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, representatives of the Municipality of Sopot, and the Health Centre management. Zoran Radojičić, Mayor of Belgrade, expressed his gratitude to NIS for this donation and emphasised its importance for the City of Belgrade and the Municipality of Sopot. “NIS is an exemplar of a socially responsible company, since it has been showing its concern for our citizens and providing valuable help and contribution to our community for 11 years now. This year as well, NIS donated RSD 20 million for five local self-government units in the City of Belgrade, which is especially important to me, being the mayor of Belgrade. Besides Sopot, the municipalities of Mladenovac, Obrenovac, Zemun, and Palilula are also included. As regards Sopot and this machine, the fact that this is a machine which will help diagnose problems in our children, and that all this can be done here in Sopot, is particularly significant and important. I am grateful to NIS for all the incredible things it has done for the citizens of Serbia and Belgrade and I firmly believe that together we will keep working for the sake of our community and striving to make Serbia and Belgrade even better and more beautiful”, Radojičić said. Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, stated that one of NIS’ goals is investing in health of the youngest and emphasised that the company will keep investing in the well-being of the community. “At the beginning of this year, we set our most important goal: we will make social contribution by investing in children’s health. This is a step towards this goal. It has symbolic significance as well, as this machine will make the first steps of the youngest steady and firm. We will keep on moving, happy to have the chance to provide support to the most beautiful and important part of our lives and our community”, Tyurdenev said. Bogdan Koroman, Director of the Sopot Health Centre, stressed the importance that this donation has for the Health Centre. “I would like to thank the NIS company for being a socially responsible company which has been supporting our projects for two years now. In 2018, we received a biochemistry analyser, while this year, we were donated more than RSD 3 million and bought the infant hip ultrasound machine. These machines are extremely important for our Health Centre”, Koroman said. For years, NIS has been one of the leading domestic companies in the area of socially responsible business. NIS pays special attention to the enhancement of conditions for the treatment of children and youth in health institutions across Serbia, both through support for the procurement of modern medical devices and equipment, and through decoration of premises in these institutions. This way, the company wishes to contribute to the situation where the youngest patients, as the future of our country, have the highest quality conditions for treatment. As part of this year’s corporate programme for cooperation with local communities in Serbia “Together for the Community”, NIS has invested almost a million euros (RSD 116.5 million) in enhancement of operations of 20 healthcare institutions in 13 towns and municipalities throughout our country. NIS’ “Together for the Community” social responsibility programme has lasted for 11 years and has been implemented in cooperation with local communities throughout Serbia. So far, more than 900 projects pertaining to various fields and worth more than a billion Serbian dinars have been supported, and their implementation helped improve the quality of life of the citizens. With the aim of facilitating development and progress of the local community, during their years-long partnership within the “Together for the Community” program, Belgrade and NIS have implemented numerous projects in the areas of education and science, culture, environmental protection, sport, as well as humanitarian activities with the investments of almost RSD 230 million. This year, NIS has donated RSD 20 million for five projects in the health care field in the capital.
