NIS Donates Funds for the Protection of 400-Year-Old Oak Tree

August 1, 2013

NIS has donated 320.000 dinars for the protection of a 400-year-old oak tree in the village of Kumane in Banat. Kumane Local Community Office and the environmental society from the village have received the funds from NIS in the public competition opened by the company for the purpose of supporting local community development projects.

The 40-metre oak tree, declared a natural monument under the protection of the state, was severely damaged by thunder. A detailed reconstruction - the so-called tree surgery – is to follow the landscaping of the space around the tree. The tree conservation project measures are implemented in collaboration with the Vojvodina Institute for the Protection of Culture.
