March 13, 2013

On the occasion of Day of Institute of Mining Engineering and Geology in Belgrade, a classroom was inaugurated with state-of-the-art IT hardware for design and engineering. NIS funded the classroom revamp to streamline and enhance conditions for study and research. The classroom is outfitted with 21 computers, which, among other things, will make distance learning possible to students. „Institute of Mining Engineering and Geology and our company share an intention to facilitate professional development and enhancement of highly-qualified experts in geology and mining engineering. We endeavour to make modern education available to young experts to help them best prepare for work in these disciplines”, said Dmitry Fomenko, Deputy NIS CEO in charge of Organisational Affairs Department. In late 2012, NIS signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Institute of Mining Engineering and Geology to facilitate the enhancement of research in extraction, refining and distribution of crude oil, oil products and natural gas. The Memorandum envisages a joint activity aimed at upgrading the existing and creating new curricula or modules for elementary master studies. The revamp of this classroom at the Institute of Mining Engineering and Geology has been completed along the lines of NIS social responsibility programme „The Power of Knowledge“. The programme envisages partnership with Serbia’s education institutions to help prepare young experts as well as highly-qualified staff to work in the company. NIS’ long-term cooperation with the University in Belgrade and Novi Sad, in addition to Memorandum of Cooperation with the Institute of Mining Engineering and Geology produced also memoranda with the Faculty of Economy and Organisational Sciences Faculty in Belgrade, as well as high-school students’ support programmes.
