NIS Investment in Serbian Young Generations Development Totals 180 million RSD in 2014

Young, Science and Education have been supported by NIS through several corporate programs. These include: "NIS Chance", "Energy of Knowledge" and "Energy of Sports". Within the scope of the projects aimed at supporting education, training and development of talented students, NIS cooperates with 20 universities and 17 schools across Serbia through the "Energy of Knowledge" Program. Starting from 2013 until today, NIS has equipped more than 30 computer classrooms and a number of labs in several cities. For the past six years in a row, NIS has been supporting Petnica as well. Every year, the company provides financial support in the amount of RSD 12 million and contributes to the development of young professionals. As it is necessary to connect the education system and the labor market, NIS has launched an initiative for accreditation of new study programs in Serbia. There are two new study programs accredited by the Faculty of Mining and Geology, Belgrade: Oil and Gas Engineering and Oil and Gas Geology, while the Technical Faculty "Mihajlo Pupin", Zrenjanin launched the study program Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation and has 50 students enrolled for the 2014/2015 academic year. Also, the program "Energy Knowledge" NIS granted a total of 82 scholarships to young people, of which 23 scholarships for various universities in the country, 25 scholarships for studies in the Russian Federation, 31 for 4th grade secondary school students and three scholarships for the winners of the Knowledge Olympics. NIS in cooperation with associations of physicists, mathematicians, chemists and Slavic language philologists organized the Knowledge Olympics. Over the last two years, 12 Olympics have been held in total in the field of natural sciences and Russian, and in addition, within the same period, NIS supported the national teams at prestigious international competitions in chemistry, physics and mathematics. In addition, for the past three years, the company has been implementing the "NIS Chance" program and more than 660 graduate students and secondary technical school graduates with no work experience have been employed through this program. Within the scope of this project, the company provides an opportunity for young professionals to gain their first work experience and contribute to the fight against youth unemployment. NIS has showed its commitment to the youth through cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Fund for Young Talents operating under this Ministry. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and NIS was concluded in February 2013, and the company has so far recruited 49 fund scholarship holders, and provided thus these young talented people with the opportunity to gain their first work experience in one of the largest energy companies in the region. NIS has been investing in the young generation development through the "Energy of Sports" Program as well. The goal of this program is to support professional and children sports and thus enhance the promotion of healthy lifestyle and trigger fostering genuine values among the youth. The company is Serbia's Tennis Association general sponsor and their major project of common interest is the delivery of open and free tennis programs for all children throughout Serbia.
