On this occasion, today a Memorandum of Cooperation between NIS and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia was signed in the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as well as agreements on cooperation between NIS and 13 self-governments in which the company operates. The agreements were signed by Kirill Tyurdenev, NIS CEO, Zlatibor Lončar, Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia, and representatives of 13 municipalities and cities in which the program is implemented. Zlatibor Lončar, Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia The Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia used the opportunity to welcome the initiative of the NIS company which directed all the “Together for the Community” program funds into health. “As the Minister of Health, I sincerely welcome such initiatives in which socially responsible companies, such as NIS, are committed to supporting health care in the cities and municipalities throughout Serbia, in which they operate. I sincerely hope that in the upcoming period we will continue our partnership with some new victories and activities“, said Lončar. CEO of NIS, Kirill Tyurdenev CEO of NIS, Kirill Tyurdenev, said that the health of children and young people was valuable and pointed out the significance of NIS’ investments in health institutions on the territory of Serbia. “Our real profit is the best possible future for every child, and such investment is not an obligation, but a privilege. I am convinced that everyone will welcome our decision to direct, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Local Self-Government, all the funds from the ‘Together for the Community’ program this year to the protection of children’s health. These investments remain our lasting commitment and do not depend on the profit realized. We are sure that the equipment we donated to the healthcare in Serbia, primarily to children’s hospitals, already gives good results”, said Tyurdenev. Miloš Vučević, Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević, Mayor of Novi Sad, thanked NIS for many years of cooperation and emphasized the importance of supporting health institutions as part of the “Together for the Community” program. “For ten years of work on this project, we have managed to improve the living conditions and improve the various social areas in our cities. This year, as part of the agreement between the Ministry of Health and the Petroleum Industry of Serbia we will all focus on the most vulnerable and most important social area, which is healthcare primarily of children and young people. I am sure that we will be, as local governments, cities and municipalities, ready to have good projects together with NIS; that the best projects will be valid and that these investments will be distributed where they are most needed. This is definitely a plus for all these cities; it is a big plus for Serbia and a big plus for social and health care”, said the mayor of Novi Sad. By signing a cooperation agreement between NIS and 13 local communities, this year’s “Together for the Community” competition also begins. Guided by the fact that only a healthy community is a strong community, NIS has directed this year’s budget at the “Together for the Community” program in the total amount of 116.5 million dinars, exclusively in the field of healthcare for children and youth, in the local communities in which it operates. Since this year, the 13th local community – Plandište has also joined the program whereby NIS continues to expand its partnership and friendship among municipalities and cities of Serbia. By doing so, the company wants to contribute to the further development of local communities and provide its contribution to the improvement of quality of life in them, especially for the youngest. In accordance with this goal, in each city of municipality where the program is implemented, five projects submitted by health institutions will be financed. The selection of projects will be decided by the Commission composed of representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, NIS company and local community. All the terms and conditions of the public competition “Together for the Community”, which will last until April 22, 2019 can be found on the website www.zajednicizajedno.nis.eu, and the results of the competition will be published on May 31, 2019 As one of the leading social investors in Serbia and the region, under the slogan “Future in Action” NIS has been investing significant funds in support of young people for years, improving educational infrastructure, popularizing science, culture and art, contributing to improving conditions for work in health and social institutions of a broader social significance. Over the past 11 years, the company has invested over 3.7 billion dinars in socially responsible business, and almost 100 billion dinars have been invested in health institutions across Serbia. Significant funds have been donated for the procurement of medical equipment to the Institute for Child and Youth Healthcare of Vojvodina, Novi Sad, as well as the University Children’s Hospital “Tiršova” in Belgrade. At the end of 2018, NIS made a donation to the General Hospital “Studenica” in Kraljevo and the Clinical- Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica. In addition, the company was supported by the Hematology-Oncology Department of the Children’s Internal Diseases Hospital in Niš, as well as the Institute for for Health Protection of Mother and Child, “Dr Vukan Čupić”. Together with the partners, the company also participated in the campaign “Magnet for Love”, during which a magnetic resonance device was purchased for the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth in Novi Sad.
