NIS Started the Implementation of the Project for Development of the Power Supply Sytem for Company Fields

September 28, 2012

NIS started the implementation of the project having the goal to increase the efficiency of the power supply system to fields in Serbia. The goal of the project is to increase the efficiency of carbohydrate production, owing to the maximum use of liquefied petroleum gas.  Implementation shall secure the heat energy independence of NIS fields and significantly increase operational efficiency, contributing to reduction of hazardous gas emission originating from burning the liquefied petroleum gas at the flare. It should be noted that the integration of cogeneration capacities into the existing oil field infrastructure is completely in accordance with the global practice of leading oil companies. In the initial phase, installation of the cogeneration unit and additional equipment shall be performed at the Sirakovo field. Design capacity of the unit is 850 kW and it will cost approximately 1 million euro. Start-up is expected by the end of the first quarter in 2013. As a part of this initiative and the mid-term plan, 13 NIS fields shall have similar cogeneration units.
