During 28th to 31st of March, the National Olympics of Russian as a modern language was held in Buchrest and hosted by „Virgil Magearu” Economic College. The russian olympics aims at approaching the reality by retraspecting to the russian cultural tradition, reconsidering its value from the modern perspective. 51 pupils from 7 counties participate in this contest of excellence. The Olympics was organized by the Ministry of National Education, Bucharest School Inspectorate, „Virgil Magearu” Economic College, Russian Language and Literature Russian Professors Association, in partnership with NIS a.d. Novi Sad, Embassy of Russian Federation, Russian School, „Rossotrudnicestvo” Agency, the Russian Center in the Academy for Economic Studies. The Grand opening ceremony had as special guests his excellency Mr. Oleg MalghinovExtraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russian Federation and his excellency Mr.Branko Branković, Ambassador of Republic of Serbia in Romania. Both Ambassodors encouraged the pupils to reach performance in their Russian language skills, and congradulated the company for the intiative of investing in education and supporting young talents. The young participants to the Russian Olympics where introduced to NIS project, Energy of Knowledge, which invests in education, science and students accomplishing the best educational results. Partnering with the most important educational institutions, NIS is supporting the organization of the Olympics for Russian language in Romania, in the new objective set for 2014, of expanding the scope of the project in neighboring countries where the Company conducts business operations. The best competitors in Russian knowledge with highest number of points after two days of competition held during 29th and 30th of March are: category 1 - Vlad Roxana Nicoleta category 2 - Ferţadi Anamaria Sofia category 3 - Lazar Anfisa category 4 – Eremia Mariana Mrs. Snežana Lakićević, Manager for cooperation with scientific and educational institutions in NIS, pointed out that within the project „Energy of knowledge” special attention is paid to the popularisation of the Russian language and encouraged young participants to aplly for the two scholarships offered by the company to study in Russian universities having oil and gas technical profile, emphasizing the company’s attempt to raise the teaching and studying conditions and enable the best students employment in the company after graduation. During the awards ceremony hosted by Russian School, the best pupils received prizes offered by the Embassy of Russian Federation in Romania, diplomas by the Ministry of Education and „Energy of Knowledge” award statues offered by NIS representatives. The company NIS awarded first, second and third price for each of the 4 winning categories: 1st category – pupils that never spoke Russian before; 2nd category – Lipovan Russians, Slavic ethnic group, 3rd category – Moldavian & Ukrainians and 4th category – Croatians, Poles, Czechs, etc. The young students were very enthusiastic and optimistic regarding the whole support they are receiving, seen as an investment in their future, but also grateful for the acknowledgement of their efforts and results obtained during the Olympics. The National Olympics of Russian is the first Olympics that NIS organized and supported in the region of South East Europe. During March and April in NIS headquarter in Novi Sad will be held Olympics in Russian, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for pupils from elementary schools.
