NIS winner of the VIRTUS Corporate Philanthropy Award

NIS has been awarded the prestigious VIRTUS Corporate Philanthropy Award. Michael Davenport , Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Serbia, presented the main award to NIS CEO Kirill Kravchenko for the contribution on the national level. NIS Company was nominated by the the Association for Local Development from Kamenica for financial support to the local communities in which NIS operates through corporate social responsibility program entitled "Cooperation for Development " through which NIS supported 145 projects in year 2103. The award also cites science and education support program "Energy of Knowledge" as well as the corporate philanthropy campaign in which the employees and the Company jointly raised funds for the purchase of 23 CTG devices which have been distributed to maternity wards in Serbia. For the past year, NIS has evolved economically and increased its participation in the budget of Serbia from seven to more than 14 percents, if we also take into account the payment of dividends. For us it is very important that each year we invest more and more in social projects. So in the last five years, we have invested more than five billion dinars in various programs i.e. cooperation with the university, the local community, sports and culture. NIS has a Serbian origin, name and heart, but a European future, and if Serbian companies want to be competitive at the European level, they must comply with the strictest European standards. This award will certainly motivate us to be even more determined to continue to do this in future, said Kiril Kravchenko, NIS CEO on this occasion. The traditional annual VIRTUS awards were awarded for the seventh time in recognition of companies that made the greatest contribution to the common good in 2013 by providing financial or other support to non-profit campaigns or civil society organizations. Prizes are awarded in eight categories. In addition to awards for the contribution on the national level, which has been awarded to NIS , Eurobank jsc won an award for its contribution to the local community, the Pirot Free Zone for small and medium enterprises, Telekom Serbia for long-term partnership between for-profit and nonprofit sectors, Delta Holding for contributing to social inclusion, Bambi Concern f0or the most innovative project, Banca Intesa for volunteering campaigns and Ekapija for media contribution.
