NIS was awarded due to its significant financial empowerment and backing of the sports, whereas this recognition was part of the 58th Sportsman of the Year Award, traditionally organized by this daily newspaper. This yeasr, a wrestler, Davor Stefanek, was named the Sportsman of the Year. NIS has been supportive of sports in Serbia through its corporate program "The Energy of Sport", which aims to help not only the professionals, but also children's sport and thus to promote the true values among the young generation. The Company is a strategic partner of the basketball club Partizan, and a general sponsor of the Serbian Tennis Association, partnered by NIS in organizing the Free Tennis School throughout Serbia. NIS assisted sports in Serbia with more than 195 million dinars in 2014.
