The ceremony, which was used as an opportunity to present Certificates of Appreciation to partnering institutions, was attended by the representatives of the Novi Sad University, the Fund Council, Province High Education and Scientific Research Secretariat, the City of Novi Sad, NIS, as well as by numerous other guests. Also, certificates were presented to the best students who received the Fund Scholarship during the current academic year. At the event, Dejan Jaksic, the Rector of the Novi Sad University, stated that the University is one large community made up by approximately 50,000 students. “I hope that these scholarships will motivate you to make even greater efforts, but that they will motivate other students, as well, to work hard and try to reach, in the next cycle, the place where you are today”, Rector Jaksic told the scholarship recipients and added that the subject event would not have been possible without donors who recognize the importance of investing in the best students. On behalf of NIS, the Certificate of Appreciation was received by Stefan Despotovic, the Director of the External Communications Department at NIS. “For many years now, NIS has been recognized as one of the economic leaders in Serbia, but we are especially proud of the implementation of our extensive program of socially-responsible operation. Cooperation with universities and educational institutions, as well as the support provided to talented and young people, take up a special place in that program, and NIS will definitely continue along the same path in the years to come”, Despotovic said. Within its “Energy of Knowledge” Corporate Program, NIS awards scholarships through the Novi Sad University’s Fund for Talented Students since academic 2014/2015 year. During the cooperation with the Fund, NIS has so far provided scholarships for more than 20 students at Novi Sad Faculties; in the current academic year, it has awarded four scholarships for students enrolled at faculties and departments which are of interest for the Company operation – Faculty of Technology, Oil-Petrochemical Engineering Department and “Mihajlo Pupin” Faculty, Zrenjanin, Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation Department. During the undergraduate program, the scholarship recipients will do their internships at NIS, and once they graduate, they will be hired by the Company. Apart from NIS, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the Province High Education and Scientific Research Secretariat, the City of Novi Sad, DDOR Novi Sad and the Public Utility Company “Informatika“.
