In front of the NIS business premises in Novi Beograd, the “In Pretend“ EuroBasket 2013 street ball tournament was organized today, styled this year as “We give the game a start, NIS give us a start“. On three courts set up in the open flat space in front of NIS, the boys and girls born in 2002 and later, as well as the embassy representatives of the countries which participated in the European Basketball Tournament in Slovenia, had the opportunity to try their skills in street ball. The height of the hoops and the size of the ball varied in accordance with the contestants’ age. The participating teams bore the names of the national teams which took part in the European Basketball Tournament in Slovenia. The same competition system was used, but the players adhered to street ball rules. NIS pays special attention to the development of youth sports, the younger generations, and the promotion of new talent. It is precisely for this reason that for the third year running the company has supported the great initiative of the Basketball Association of Serbia – the Mini-basketball League, devised with children and youth in mind, and held in towns and cities throughout Serbia. Last year, over 7,500 elementary and secondary school students took part in what can already be considered a traditional Mini-basketball League competition.
