The European Commissioner for Energy Praises the Pančevo Oil Refinery

Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy in European Union, Ivica Dačić, Serbian Prime Minister and Kirill Kravchenko, NIS CEO and their associates, today visited the modernized refinery plants in Pančevo. After praising NIS Gazprom Neft's development success, Mr. Oettinger stated that he visited and saw a very impressive factory with a modern infrastructure and high work efficiency. According to Mr. Oettinger, NIS Gazprom Neft's development shall have a positive effect on the development of the domestic and the whole regional market. Gunther Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Energy, who is visiting Serbia following the Ministry Council Session for the Energy Community in Southeastern Europe, stated that NIS Gazprom Neft has a modern technology which will help Serbia to become a partner with developed countries in this field and make Serbia a modern energy country in the region. He also estimated that the Serbian market can have a substantial role and that it should be one of the central markets in southeastern Europe. After thanking the European guest, the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dačić stated on this occasion that the developments and investments in the energy field in Serbia present top priorities in the economic development and said that new investments are planned in this field.„The fact that Serbia does not wish to go further into debt, does not imply that the energy projects will be postponed, but the contrary, it is necessary to find new forms of financing”. After expressing his gratitude to Mr. Oettinger and Ivica Dačić for their visits to the Pančevo Refinery, Kirill Kravchenko, NIS CEO said that Gazprom Neft had a rare opportunity today to present the completed projects and inform the European Commissioner for Energy with NIS Gazprom Neft's plans in the upcoming period. „We spoke in detail on how to adapt NIS Gazpromneft's activities to the European standards even better and how to adapt our strategy to the development of the whole region“, said Mr. Krаvchenko, emphasizing that NIS Gazprom Neft can contribute to the development of this part of Europe.
