This year, the company made available a fund of 114.5 million dinars for the implementation of projects of capital importance for the development of communities. This year, NIS has supported projects aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens in local communities. The selected projects are in the fields of education, sport, culture, ecology, public health and social protection. The decision on the priority areas was defined by representatives of the local municipalities, who invited institutions and associations from their cities or municipalities involved in these areas to deliver projects of long-term importance for the development of their community. The final decision on the projects to be supported was made by a board composed of representatives from NIS and the 12 local communities. The Common Cause – Community program is one of NIS’s most important projects, and it has been successfully implemented for 10 years in cooperation with local communities in Serbia. During this period, over 900 projects worth more than one billion dinars have been realized, which have significantly improved the life of citizens in the communities in which the company operates – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Čačak, Pančevo, Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Kanjiža, Srbobran, Žitište and Novi Bečej. The city of Požarevac was added to the program this year, which has continued to expand the circle of partner communities in Serbia.
