Science Festival Free of Charge from 17 to 19 May at the Belgrade Fair, with the Support of NIS

15.05.2023.

The 16th Science Festival will be held in a new period, from 17 to 19 May, in Hall 4 of the Belgrade Fair, free of charge for all visitors. Most of the announced programme units will be organized at full capacity, thanks to the enthusiasm of more than 1,300 participants from 52 scientific and educational institutions. The festival has been held with the support of NIS for more than ten years.

The new dates for the Science Festival have been chosen to support children at this time through an event that aims to promote and popularize science and the scientific way of thinking, as the true values of society. The Science Festival, in cooperation with the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy, will also organize psychological workshops and lectures for interested visitors.

The general sponsor, NIS, presents its work with an installation entitled “Energy that Drives”. This specially created installation will present the oil industry as an integral part of the new age. It will guide visitors through the virtual reality of oil exploration and production and present the way in which crude oil is transformed into an energy source. Visitors to the installation will also be able to get acquainted with innovative technologies, such as drones, which are used in the oil industry today.

NIS has supported the Science Festival for more than ten years, in order to jointly contribute to the popularization of science among young people. NIS puts the professional development of young people, education, and use of modern technologies and innovations in the focus of its socially responsible business and implements its socially responsible activities under the slogan “Future at Work”, because it is an investment in science and in the future for the company.

In the Experteenagers Zone, young scientists and ambassadors of science will present their achievements and knowledge acquired during school classes and extracurricular activities through a series of scientific challenges in which they will mostly cover topics in ecology, geography, physics, and chemistry. In the Zone of Interactive Installations, visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with hundreds of interesting scientific topics, both from natural and social sciences, and to discover the fun side of science with a number of interactive experiments. In the Little Zone, dedicated to children aged 5 to 11, the little ones will be able to show creativity and curiosity through workshops and try their hand at simple experiments through which they will enter the magical world of science. On the Science Fiction Stage, there are performances by Michael Gregory from France and our scientific communicator Milan Popović.
