NIS supported the procurement of equipment for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic “Narodni Front”

20.06.2023.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme “Together for the Community”, NIS has provided support to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic “Narodni Front” by equipping their embryology laboratory with modern devices worth over 11.6 million dinars. This will contribute to increasing the capacity of this institution to perform in vitro fertilisation procedures.

“The equipment we received is of great importance as it will help to double the capacity of the Center for biomedically assisted fertilisation. At the same time, it will allow young embryologists to work more and gain experience faster and become more skilled professionals in their field,” emphasised Prof. Dr. Željko Miković, the Director of the Clinic, while Vadim Smirnov, Deputy CEO of NIS, called on more companies to join similar actions.

“It is always a good opportunity for companies to share their success with the communities in which they operate. Donations like today’s are a privilege for us, and I can say that there are many more projects ahead of us in local communities throughout Serbia,” Smirnov said.

The project was implemented as part of a broader campaign called “Let New Hopes Be Born” conducted by NIS during the past year, which aimed at preserving and improving reproductive health and supporting increased birth rates. In the previous year, more than 20 million dinars were invested in the territory of Belgrade alone for the implementation of five projects aimed at improving the work of institutions dealing with reproductive health. In addition to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic “Narodni Front”, four other healthcare institutions are supported on the territory of the City of Belgrade: The Clinical-Hospital Center “Zemun”, the Clinical-Hospital Center “Zvezdara”, the Institute of Neonatology, and the Health Center “Voždovac”.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic “Narodni Front” is a highly specialised tertiary healthcare institution, which provides modern high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients in the field of gynecology, obstetrics and neonatology. The hospital has an embryological laboratory for the preparation of samples for biomedical assisted fertilisation, as well as equipment for freezing and thawing gametes and embryos. Around 500 in vitro fertilisation procedures are performed there every year, and with the acquisition of new equipment, this number is expected to increase to 1,000, which is extremely important for all those struggling to conceive.

Additional information:
NIS has been implementing the “Together for the Community” programme since 2009. Since then, more than 1,000 corporate socially responsible projects have been implemented in local communities throughout Serbia, with a total value of almost 1.6 billion dinars. This year, NIS will invest 144.5 million dinars within the “Together for the Community” programme to improve the educational process and infrastructure of primary and secondary school facilities. Part of the funds will also be directed towards the improvement of research and innovation capacities and infrastructure of scientific and research organisations and science and technology parks. This is also the largest annual amount of funds that NIS will allocate to support local communities within the “Together for the Community” programme since its inception. Through these efforts, NIS aims to mark the 15 years of the existence of this largest corporate social responsibility programme in our country.
